Diversity in Art

The Her-icane Festival of Women's Art was created in 1998 as a collaboration between female theatre artists and 25th Street Theatre Centre in answer to a need for more opportunity for female actors. The festival has expanded beyond the original mandate to become a multi-disciplinary opportunity for artists from across Canada.

The festival programming and development is guided by a collective of female artists from multiple disciplines who form the Festival Committee. The festival has included the disciplines of theatre, dance, music, literary art, visual art, craft and film.

The Her-icane was discontinued by 25th Street Theatre Centre after the 2008 event in line with our new more focused mission statement.
